Is it mandatory to use Positive Pay?
It is not mandatory to use Positive Pay. However, cheques issued at a value greater than Rs 50,000 shall be accepted for dispute resolution mechanism under CTS grid only if Positive Pay facility is used.
If I have not used Positive Pay, will my cheque be processed?
Yes, the cheque will be processed even if Positive Pay facility is not used. However, any issue in relation to the cheque will not be accepted for dispute resolution mechanism under Cheque Truncation System (CTS) grid by NPCI.
What are the steps for using Positive Pay on Internet Banking?
Please follow the steps below to receive information for Positive Pay through Internet Banking:
- Click on Customer Service > Service Requests > Bank Accounts > Cheque book/DD related > Positive Pay
- Follow the steps below:
- Select Account number
- Enter Cheque number (Internet Banking validates cheque status, cheque should be unused)
- Beneficiary/Payee name
- Cheque amount
- Cheque date (date cannot be older than <90> days)
What are the timings for using Positive Pay?
Positive Pay can be done using ICICI Bank Internet Banking and iMobile facility 24x7.
I am a Savings Account customer of ICICI Bank, do I have to use Positive Pay?
Yes, Positive Pay is applicable for Current Account and Savings Account customers from Jan 01, 2021 for cheques issued at a value greater than Rs 50,000. Customer has to enter required data in the Positive Pay system at the time of issuing the cheque. In case the information is provided on the day of presentment, it may not get considered.
Are there any charges for using Positive Pay?
No, Positive Pay facility is provided free of charge to all customers.
What are the steps for using Positive Pay on iMobile app?
Please follow the steps below to receive information for Positive Pay through iMobile app:
- Click on ‘Services’ in the bottom right corner, click on ‘Cheque Book Services’ and click on ’Positive Pay’.
- Enter the following details:
- Cheque number
- Beneficiary/Payee name
- Cheque amount
- Cheque date
Can I use Positive Pay by visiting the branch?
Positive Pay is currently available only through Internet Banking and Mobile Banking app of ICICI Bank.

I have to deposit multiple cheques, is there any facility to do Positive Pay for these multiple cheques at once?
No. For each cheque issued, Positive Pay will have to be done separately.
If Positive Pay facility is not used, will I still get protection against a fraudulent claim?
Positive Pay mechanism is implemented with an aim to prevent frauds under CTS. In case Positive Pay is not used, the cheque shall not be accepted for dispute resolution mechanism under CTS grid.
What if there is a mistake made while entering details of cheques issued in Positive Pay?
In case of any mismatch while entering details, ICICI Bank has the right to return/reject the cheque.
